This happened around 1:10pm on Friday, January 18th. This was on Line 4, Train 34. The location was at Division Street in Gresham. The following pictures were taken from the BACK of the bus.
Actually given that there is plenty of room at that spot to clear the gate and stay out of the dynamic envelope of the train, this was likely the best alternative for the bus operator. Because there is a traffic light just east of this crossing it’s likely the bus operator was caught under the gate by traffic backed up in front of him. Letting the gate rest on the bus is a poor option because it doesn’t allow the gate to block the adjacent lane (which is a serious safety issue), Backing up is a poor option as it would likely knock the gate arm off and leave the crossing unprotected (serious safety issue) until it can be repaired and backing up a 40′ bus in traffic is damn near impossible anyways. Trying to beat the train with a 40′ bus is a bad option because the train always wins in a collision and that bus operator had a number of lives in his hands. Looks to me like this professional bus operator did a fine job of giving you a safe ride to your destination Lane.
So the question becomes why are you involved in a vendetta against TriMet union employees Lane? The employees are not the ones who have destroyed TriMet , they are just hardworking people who show up every day to give you a safe ride and earn a paycheck to feed their families. I think you should abandon Gresham TC and park yourself down at sw1st & Harrison. Monitor the comings and goings of Neil McFarland and his band of merry thieves! I would love to see videos of you following Neil around and asking him the hard questions like how he can justify spending public funds to engage in union busting activities or how he expects to continue providing service to the public when bond debt service costs are skyrocketing at his agency. You could even ask him why he refuses to let the public observe contract negotiations.
Think about it Lane you could be a public hero for exposing the waste and corruption at TriMet rather than someone who is effectively harassing working class people trying to do their job day in and day out and who actually provide you a service.
This is the same View I see when I pull up to the Max Crossing at 92nd & Foster. Shocker! Alert the Media! come on Lane…
I’m posting this comment for DAN MARTIN:
